Frequently asked Questions
How do I book a session? You can book a session by emailing contact@croftcounselling.co.uk or filling out the contact form on the website. I usually offer a free 10-minute initial call to answer any questions and help you decide if counselling is right for you. I aim to respond to all messages within 24 hours, though there may occasionally be a delay.
How do I pay for my session? Once you have booked your session, I will email a payment request via an email link or you can use a bank transfer (Bank details are shown on the contract and payment request). The session fee is payable within 48 hours of your session date and time; this will confirm and hold your session time. Non-payment within 48 hours of your session date and time will result in the session time being offered to someone else. Payments can be made using Google Pay or any debit or credit card or bank transfer.
How do I cancel a session? If you need to cancel a session, please provide more than 24 hours' notice. Sessions cancelled with more than 24 hours’ notice will either be fully refunded or can be rebooked. If a session is cancelled, rebooked, or missed within 24 hours of the scheduled time, the full session fee will be charged, and no further sessions can be booked until payment is received. In exceptional circumstances, I will allow one session to be cancelled within 24 hours without charge. I will do my best to provide at least four weeks' notice for any planned holidays, and I kindly ask that you do the same if possible.
How many sessions can I have? There are no minimum or maximum session numbers required.
Will the sessions be at the same time every week? Sessions are usually scheduled every week on the same day and time. Please note that for therapy to work, regular attendance is essential.
What will happen in the first session? You may feel apprehensive before your first session, this is normal. I aim to create a warm, judgement-free space where you can feel safe and comfortable. During this session, we’ll go over the Contract Agreement and Assessment, and I’ll answer any questions you may have. I'll also take the time to get to know you, and together we’ll arrange the date and time for our next appointment.
What happens before the first session? Once you confirm that you would like to go ahead and book your first session, I will email you our contract agreement and a link to an assessment form. This gives you time to review the terms at your own pace and confirm your agreement. In our first session, we will go over the contract together and address any questions you may have. I will also forward a payment link or you can pay via bank transfer with the account details stated in the Contract Agreement. Once I have received your payment within 48 hours of your session date and time, I will email you details about your first session, such as confirming the date, time, location or Google Meet link.
What is Online Remote Counselling? Online remote counselling is a flexible, remote therapy service conducted through secure video calls, allowing you to receive support from the comfort of your own space.I use Google Meet for online sessions, the link to join is sent prior to our session via email. To access the session, you’ll need a computer, laptop, or mobile device with a broadband connection. Google Meet does not need to be installed. Sessions are 50 minutes in length, so please ensure you’re in a quiet, private space where you feel safe to talk. Join the call by clicking the link at your appointment time, and I will admit you to the online room.
What is Telephone Counselling? Telephone counselling is a form of therapy conducted over the phone, providing support and guidance through voice conversations, offering a confidential and convenient way to receive help. You will need mobile phone or telephone access and a quiet, private, and confidential room where you feel safe to talk.
Do you work with children? No, currently I only work with adults and teenagers over the age of 16 years.
Is your service confidential? I take privacy and confidentiality very seriously and will only break confidentiality if certain limits are reached, for example, if there is a high level of risk to you or someone else or certain conditions are met. This will be covered in more detail in the contract and discussed in the first session.
What if I don't feel that counselling is working for me? There is no need to carry on with counselling if you don't feel that it is right for you. Another counsellor might be a better fit, but I hope that we can find out why you feel the counselling is not working for you.
Where areas do you cover? I currently work remotely via online and telephone, which covers the United Kingdom. I also offer face-to-face sessions in Walsall in the West Midlands.
